Sword Score!~Battling foam swords are not just for pretend play swordfights. With a foam sword you can create your very own tournaments and battles. Everything you need to get started in the world of battling is detailed below. So read the rules and get practicing!
What you will need;
2 x Battling foam swords
1 x safe place to battle
1 x Opponent
1 x Supervisor (Responsible Adult) - To act as a referee and safety marshall
The Area;
You need an area of flat ground, with no objects you could trip over or break. (Parents aren't too keen on that sort of thing) Try to make sure you have at least 2 metres between you and your opponent before you start.
Safety First;
Battling swords are designed for play combat and training, however any toy is only as safe as the person using it. It is important to follow the following rules when playing.
Don't hit too hard - Pull your blows, only connect with a light touch
Don't aim for the face or "soft spots" - avoid hitting delicate areas
Don't run around - Take care where you step, so as not to fall
Don't play without a responsible adult supervising
As long as you follow these simple safety rules you are ready to begin.
The Rules;
The rules to battling are simple. Each player starts with 5 hit points and has 6 targets; 2 x arms, 2 x legs, 1 body, and a head. Any time one of these 6 areas is struck by the opponent you lose 1 hit point. When you are reduced to 0 hit points… you lose.
(e.g.) Mike and Tom are fighting. Mike hits tom on the right arm twice and once on the head. But Tom hits Mike once on each arm, twice on his left leg and once on his head. As Tom makes the 5th hit. Mike Loses.
SPECIAL RULES;
Instant win.
The Body is a special target as it contains all those important organs and doesn't have too much in the way of protection.
NOTE:
If your opponent strikes your body target, you will lose all remaining hit points.
This makes moves such as the lunge and windmill very powerful indeed check out On Guard and cool moves.
